NEW Definition or Description:A nerve plexus situated ventral to the {promontory of the sacrum}, arising as a continuation of the {abdominal aortic nerve plexus}, receiving branches of the 3rd and 4th {lumbar ganglia} and {sacral splanchnic nerves}. It forms a {hypogastric nerve} on each side of the {rectum} and {vagina}, innervating the pelvic viscera.
